What You Need To Know About Getting Your Texas Drivers Permit

Steps To Getting Your Permit (Phase 1)

1 Enroll in our course - it's easy, and will only take a few minutes

2Your parents also need to apply with the DPS in order to qualify to teach you the course – more on Parent's Page.

3Complete the first 6 hours of the course - once you've completed the first portion, we'll send you an e-mail letting you know it's time to go to the DPS and apply for your Texas Driver Permit.

4Finish the second part of the course (26 hours) - at this point, you can start driving with you parents and logging your hours. You'll need 7 hours of in-car training and 7 hours of behind- the-wheel practice.

5Pass the final and get your Certificate - you're guaranteed to pass, which means you can take the final as many times as you need to until you get a passing score!

What's Next? (Phase 2)

After you've completed our Texas Drivers Education course, passed the final, and received your Certificate, you must have your Texas Driver Learner Permit for a period of 6 consecutive months without it having been suspended/revoked, and you must be at least 16 years old, in order to apply for your Provisional License. You may only apply for your license when all of the Texas Driver Permit Requirements have been fulfilled.
